Dear Customers
Webhosting.net is proud to announce that we have recently purchased an FCP device (Flow Control Platform) for our network. An FCP is a high-end networking appliance that provides network performance management and monitoring for companies with redundant internet connections. An FCP pro-actively monitors and measures network performance and alters network routes accordingly based on measured performance metrics such as round-trip latency and packet loss. The FCP enables us to exceed the capabilities of BGP4 where BGP4 only routes traffic according to the number of hops, the FCP will route traffic according to more realistic metrics such as packet loss and total latency to the destination, as well as automatically routing traffic around major network outages. The FCP solution gives us the ability to: * Dynamically measure the end-to-end performance of our customer applications * Quickly and easily establish policies to automatically implement changes based on those measures * Report on network performance, perform forensic analysis when problems do occur, and manage our service providers to their SLAs The result is improved network performance, intelligent load balancing across multiple provider links, and easier troubleshooting. The data provided by the FCP will also enable us to make informed choices in future about what internet carriers could be added to our network to provide the most benefit to our customers’ particular traffic pattern usage. We expect to have the new FCP implemented within the next 30 days or less. Please also note that since this is not an “in-line” device it will not require any interruption in service to install, and it does not add a new point of failure to the network. Total failure of the FCP device would only cause the network to revert back to standard BGP4. If you have any questions or concerns please log a ticket in your control panel or give us a call at 1-800-709-9110. Regards, Webhosting.net Network Services |
