| Step 1: Preparing for the move |
Backup all your files and databases at your old host. Make sure that you have local copies of everything. Create a list of all mailboxes you have with your old host.
| Step 2: Setting up your new account |
Choose the right plan for your needs. You can use our Wizard to help you select the correct plan, or you can view all plans side-by-side.
Once you've signed up for your chosen plan you can move onto the next step.
| Step 3: Uploading your data |
Log into the Control Panel and find your Instant Access Domain Alias. You should also receive this in your welcome email if you signed up with a domain. Each domain you host has it's own Instant Access Domain Alias. This allows you to access and test your website before making any DNS changes.
Upload all your web files for each domain to the new servers. Web content should be placed in the directory named for your domain. EG if your domain is test.com you would upload files for the test.com domain into the folder named test.com
| Step 4: Mail account transition |
Using the Mail Manager in the control panel, create all the mailboxes you have on your list.
| Step 5: Database syncronization |
Create any databases you need using the database manager in your control panel. Make sure you edit your website files to use the new database server names, usernames and passwords.
| Step 6: DNS change |
Once you've tested that everything is working, log into your account at your domain registrar and change your nameservers to:
ns1.whdns.net
ns2.whdns.net
| Step 7: Close Old Account |
| Once DNS has fully propagated, contact your old hosting provider and close the account. |
